James Faulkner: New Kid on the Block

After a fine performance in the ODI Series in England, the Australian cricket team is now making life tough for the for midable Indian side here in India. If their current form is anything to go by the Aussies are certainly on the right track as far as their preparations for the 2015 World Cup is concerned.
Yuvraj Singh: A Sensational Comeback
The recent T20 International between India and Australia witnessed a heroic knock from comeback man and the prince of Punjab, Yuvraj Singh as he almost achieved the impossible by taking India to victory from a seemingly hopeless situation. Yuvi as he is affectionately known among his teammates had worked very hard to get back into the team after losing his place in the side due to some pretty ordinary form that he had displayed in the past.
Bowling Machines With Accurate Delivery, Available Online From Cricket Stores
In cricket sports, a bowling machine is a device available for the batsman to practice inside the nets. The batsman could hone specific skills as the machine keeps bowling according to the preset length, line and speed required by the batsman. This fills the void of not having a bowler of required style and standard.
'SACH' an 'IN'ings
I'll start with a confession - I'm nostalgic, for all my memories of cricket, right from childhood till today, are attached to this man - SACHIN RAMESH TENDULKAR. Sachin's class is unmatched in modern cricket. No wonder he is counted along side some of the biggest names in this sport.
Young Players Shine in CLT20 2013
The recently concluded Champions League T20 tournament witnessed some exciting cricket and in the end it was the Mumbai Indians who were crowned the new champions. Apart from Mumbai the Rajasthan Royals also put up a good show as they maintained an unbeaten run at home on their way to the final. The credit for Rajasthan's success must go to skipper Rahul Dravid who handled the side really well even when the going got a bit tough.
Can the Seasoned Pros Stage a Comeback?
In the recent past, the Indian cricket team has lost some of its star players either due to retirement or due to injuries or poor form which had forced the selectors to drop them from the side. While star performers like Dravid and Laxman announced their retirements from Test cricket, others like Sehwag and Gambhir were unfortunately dropped from the national side due to their poor form. Although after suffering so many blows, the Indian team still is in top form and the transition from experience to youth has been quite smooth and in a short space of time.
The Health Benefits of the Cricket Game
Cricket is a popular bat & ball sport that is in many ways similar to the American baseball. The batters attempt to hit a ball that has been pitched in order to score runs. The teams consist of eleven players, with each one of them having specific responsibilities.
Cricket, Telecast and Latest Sports News
The last edition of the Champions Trophy witnessed an epitome of drama. In spite of rains disturbing the games regularly, the series did not lose its interest among fans who were cheering for their respective home teams. In the end, the World Champions and the currently number one ranked team in the ODIs, team India stood tall as winners of the final edition of this tournament.
Duckworth Lewis System! Is It Effective?
I reckon this is the best method available to date and taking into consideration all factors during a cricket match at any stage, the set target comes closer to what it should be. You just get a feeling that yes that's what the target should be. For this reason alone I think we need to stick by Duckworth Lewis method until something better and less complex is devised. It is difficult to imagine anything better coming up though.
What Makes Cricket More Physically Demanding Than Baseball
Although there are many similarities between the games of baseball and cricket, the latter is a lot more physically demanding to play. Aside from the tons of gear worn by a player while batting and running, he also has to contend with soaring temperatures, especially when games are played in the subcontinent.
A True Cricket Lover
Life in cricket these days have faced a lot of turmoil but these nights with the spotlight on cricket's doublefaces, a true fan may feel like questioning a natural pure no-ball delivery to be some way fixed. Sad to say but that's what recent events suggest us. When India was part of ODI World-Cup 2011, they were said as the favourites to win the cup by everyone.
IPL - For Damage Control, Portray Strict Willpower to Punish or Else
Stringent punitive action is needed immediately. Better monitoring should be done, and more importantly, management should accept the responsibility of hurting the faith of millions and shattering the image of India all over the world. This is the bottom-line & what most of all truly desire.
Indo Aussies Cricket Series
The recently concluded India Australia cricket test series had some extreme reactions from both countries. The game that was earlier played in the spirit of sportsmanship is now a commercial venture. Defeat is not accepted and a Win is overreacted. Earlier the players used to play for the glory of sports. However, presently, the keen competitiveness has taken it to a level beyond sportsmanship. Please do not overreact to wins and losses. Take the matches in the true sportsman spirit.
A Guide to Choose the Perfect Cricket Bat for You
With twenty-20 establishing itself as the dominant format of the game, the selection of the right bat has become very crucial. More than ever, the type of pitch, the style of play and the attributes of the cricketer are to be given a lot of importance when selecting equipment
What to Look for When Choosing Wicket Keeping Gear
The role of the wicket keeper is quite demanding on the fitness and technique of the individual. A 50-over match can seem an eternity in the field if you are below par physically and therefore the job takes its toll on the player mentally also. As the hub of the fielding team effort, if the wicket keeper is having a nightmare game then the whole side will pay the penalty. Put simply there is no hiding place for a poor keeping performance.
The Humble Cricket Bat: A Surprising Evolution
Nobody really knows where the game of cricket originated, but there is a strong body of circumstantial evidence suggesting that the game was devised in the Saxon or Norman times, in an area of South East England, across Kent and Sussex. Originally devised as a children's game, but slowly gathering momentum with adult players, the game of cricket has, in the last few hundred years, gained incredible worldwide popularity and become known as the game of gentlemen. Every cricket fan, and even most people who do not regularly play or watch cricket, are familiar with...

What to Consider When Choosing a Cricket Helmet
With under 18 cricketers now required to wear a cricket helmet as standard, many parents are finding it hard to choose when it comes to their child's safety. There are a number of criteria needed to fulfil when buying a cricket helmet. 1. The head gear must perform its principle function in preventing injury. 2. The helmet must be comfortable to wear, be lightweight and, if well fitted, be unstable when running. 3. All helmets must be kite marked and conform to British Standards.

Are India Right To Reject The DRS?
The arguments continue to rumble on, BCCI's (Board of Control for Cricket in India) stance against the DRS has caused much controversy since its introduction in November 2009, whatever their genuine motives are, are the BCCI (Bored Cricket Crazy Indians) right to reject the DRS technology? I believe there are FOUR FACTORS to take into consideration before coming to any form of conclusion. FIRSTLY, THE FANS, is it what they want?

IPL 2013 at a Glance

How to Improve Your Bowling in Cricket
Everyone has dips in performance when confidence is fragile and individuals begin to question their own abilities. Is it a human trait that we often only seek advice when performance is at its lowest ebb? I have encountered experienced cricketers who are reluctant to take on changes to their bowling action even though they clearly are in need of guidance. Their reasoning is that once you let the genie out of the bottle it can never be replaced so if you set about altering technique the bowling action that once was can never be returned to.
Man of the Hour - Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli has come a long way from the promising young talent of the Indian cricket team to one of the best middle order batsman in the world. His has rectified the nuances that he had as a novice and has started thinking clearly and intelligently as far as the game is concerned. He has learned to prioritize his duties in the team and to optimize his role as a batsman.
Oh Dhoni, My Captain
He is the David Beckham of Indian cricket. His smooth moves, powerful batting, his copious amount of endorsement deals and the variety of hairstyles have often drawn parallels with the worldwide famous football player. He is the captain of the Indian cricket team.
Rahul Dravid Bids Adieu
Rahul Dravid was the batting mainstay of Indian Test cricket since his arrival at the international scene in 1996. So after 16 years, when he said his grace and hightailed off the Test Cricket, bringing down the curtains on what was possible one of the most illustrious cricketer profiles there ever was, it's needless to say, it has left the most strong willed of cricket fans tear eyed with a sense of profound loss.

What Cricket Clothing Do I Need For The New Season?
We all look forward to the start of the cricket season with a mixture of optimism and dread. One of the pitfalls can be the English weather which, as we all know, can be incredibly difficult to forecast. One moment the sun comes out and the temperature is rocketing skywards the next minute we are all scampering to get the covers on the wicket as the heavens open up. How on earth do you decide what items of cricket clothing to pack?
Capt. Cool - Mahendra Singh Dhoni
For someone who loves cricket, Mahendra Singh Dhoni would be way beyond passionate. He not only played in all three forms of the game, but actually captained his team and led them to victories in those games. A very talented and hard-playing man, Mahendra has received numerous awards and broken various records in all forms of cricket, and has even been hailed as the best captain that India has ever had.
How to Choose a Cricket Bat That's Right For You
When choosing a cricket bat for a junior player it is vital that you select the correct size. An inappropriate choice - often the bat is too big - will arrest a youngster's development due to the weight of the bat being unwieldy and extremely difficult to control.
Sachin Tendulkar Hair Raising Story
Sachin Tendulkar looks different these days. And no, I am not talking about a change in his batting style, or a drastic change of mood reflected on his face- no! I am actually referring to his hairstyle. Yes, while Rahul Dravid is making headlines these days owing to the news of his retirement, another great cricketing legend is painting the gossip columns red with his surprising new haircut.
Suresh Raina Earns a Place Into Top 10 Batsmen of ICC ODI Rankings
Indian prolific middle order batsman Suresh Raina improves his ranking by climbing up 15 places to earn a spot into the top 10 of Reliance ICC Player Rankings for ODI batsmen. Raina has claimed the said spot for the very first time in his whole career due to his mind-blowing performance in the last home series against England.
Virender Sehwag's Conquests
Virender Sehwag is a top quality batsman, if ever there was one. His motto "I am going to smack that ball so hard that it is going to cross over to the outer-space, looney toon style, and stay there." He was the God of the One Day Internationals, but off late he has slowly expanded his comfort zone over the Test series; and has a number of records in the Test cricket to show for it.
Cricket Galore in 2013
The year's just about started and already it is resonating with the thrill of the upcoming cricket events. The cricket frenzy in India has now reached a fever pitch. The hardcore cricket fans have already made space on their respective planners and diaries to accommodate their cricket watching schedule. Neither rain, nor sleet and apparently nor work will pry a true cricket fan from his television set or in some extreme cases the cricket auditorium.
Ravindra Jadeja - Man of the Hour
He scored three hundred and twenty runs on the second day of Saurashtra Ranji Trophy match, becoming the first Indian and the eighth batsman to score triple centuries (thrice) in first class cricket- all before the age of twenty five.He was the Man of the Match at the second ODI that took place at Kochi between India and England and he is also the man of the scintillating moment that is forever etched in history.
What's Ailing Zaheer Khan?
Zaheer Khan seems to have fallen from grace. To be really frank, one should have seen it coming; the signs were all there- the languid movements, the insipid bowling, his very steps lacked the usual bounce.
A Round of Applause for Pujara
One could have sliced the tension in the air, with a knife, that day. The crowd waited with abated breath, for the verdict and once the conclusion was reached broke into ear-drum shattering applause.
India to Boost Security for the ICC Women's World Cup
It is common knowledge that things are not as great as they can be with Pakistan and India. Though we haven't exactly buried the hatchet on issues that have transpired over the years, the relation between the sporting teams of the respective countries have always managed to keep it civil to date.
Cricket Coaching Tips With an Experienced Coach
Training is an indispensable part of being a successful sportsperson. Without quality coaching, you are likely to end up not playing by the rules. Globally renowned sportsmen and women undergo regular trainings to maintain their skills.
Dhoni Escapes Sacking, Continues on As the Captain
A while back, rumors were doing the rounds that Mahendra Singh Dhoni will be out of cricket business soon. To say that the Indian team hasn't done particularly well would be sugarcoating the whole unsavory scenario that has befallen our home team.
King of the Hockey Realm - Singh
The year 2012 has seen many sports events unfold. One of the most important being the Summer Olympics held in London. Some careers were made with as much as ease as the others were dispelled.
VIRAT KOHLI - A Force to Reckon With
The year 2012 heralded in a lot of promises for Virat Kohli who has the fortune of having them fulfilled as the months rolled by. For the young man, who stood back, belted out 90 runs and chased down the Ranji trophy, all while fighting back the tears that threatened to gush out every time he thought about his father's demise, nothing is more than deserving.

Sport has thrown-up many unforgettable contests in multiple disciplines. While cricket may not be classified as the most followed and loved sport across the world, it witnesses mad passion in the countries where it is played.
How A Chef Brought England To The Top
Finding a worthy replacement for Andrew Strauss as the next captain of the England Test team wasn't as hard of a task for the club's management to perform. They had positioned Alistair Cook as vice-captain of the squad since he was 24 and he is now primed to take over command as Strauss makes way for his retirement. We first saw a glimpse of how this right-handed man with the traditional left-handed drive can take the lead in a match against Bangladesh that took place more than two years ago. In the midst of an unrelenting attack, he didn't flinch and remained calm all throughout the game.
India Beat England In Ahmedabad Cricket Test!
Thus India beat England by 9 wickets in the first Test in Ahmedabad leading the series 1-0. For India predictably, spinners Ashwin and Ojha captured 15 wickets between them with Ojha getting 9 scalps.
Your Support Is Needed
Watching cricket on TV is great but nothing quite compares to watching a live game. Seeing your squad in person battle it out against their bitter rivals in person is so much more fun than sitting and watching it on the telly. There is an atmosphere of friendly rivalry that builds up at a cricket match that does not come through on the TV screen.

T20 World Cup - India Vs England: Hits and Flops
Super Sunday did not turn out to be that great for defending champions England as they crashed to a 90 runs defeat against India in their last group league match up at Colombo. It was England's worst ever defeat in terms of runs. The match which was hyped as one of the best matches of the tournament, however, ended up as a lopsided affair with India displaying a clinical all-round performance to emerge as the group A winners.
T20 World Cup: Pakistan Vs New Zealand: Hits and Flops
New Zealand after a commanding performance against Bangladesh would have been confident facing the Pakistanis. The Kiwis have always had problems against the Asian giants and this match was no different. New Zealand in the end lost by 13 runs, but the Kiwis will accept the fact that they left it for too late while batting and never got into the game. Pakistan were always the favourites to win the encounter, they have some of the finest performers in T20 cricket and have the bowling attack which can defend any target. They batted well and put up a good score. Things were always going to be difficult for the Kiwis as they had to score close to nine runs an over from the first ball. Captain Ross Taylor made some interesting changes in the batting order and pushed himself down the order, which in the end proved fatal for the New Zealanders.
T20 World Cup: Sri Lanka Vs Zimbabwe: Players to Watch Out for
Finally it is down to the day that the cricket fraternity had been waiting for. The T20 World Cup kicks off today in Sri Lanka and starting the affairs would be the host Sri Lanka and minnows Zimbabwe. A lop-sided affair is on the cards and Sri Lanka will start as a clear favorite in the match at least on papers. Sri Lanka will want to start off with a bang but then will be wary of...

So you've purchased your cricket bat. You have knocked it in. But what should you do to ensure that this cricket bat that you've spent a lot money and time on would last a long time?
VVS Lakshman Was the Ram of Indian Cricket
For a moment imagine what would have happened if Lakshman had never been there in the Ramayana. Would there have been a Ramayana at all? Not at all.
The History of Women's Cricket
Cricket is one of the very oldest sports in history. It has worldwide popularity and is quickly growing in the United States market as well. Cricket is also a popular sport with the female population, both as a player and a spectator. I would like to discuss the history of women's cricket.
England's Cricket Stadia - The History of Lord's and the MCC
If you mention cricket grounds and London, the first thing that most people will think of is Lord's. Perhaps the most famous cricket ground in the world, it is most notably the home of the MCC, the Marylebone Cricket Club, the guardian's of the laws of the game to this day.
The Next Playing Eleven for the Indian Test Team Against South Africa
There are lots of discussions going on in the cricket circuit about the replacement of the legendary batsman Rahul Dravid in the Indian test team. Remember that this is an opinion-based article related to the Indian future test team after the departure of Rahul, Sachin & Laxman. The article nicely gives you a clear idea about the future talents of Indian criket. Pujara, Kohli, Mukund & Rohit can lead the Team India to the mission of being No. 1 spot in the test rankings.
How Many Calories Do You Burn Playing Cricket?
Cricket is a sport that originated in England and has developed to be one of the most popular sports in the world. It is played between two teams of eleven players. One side bats first, each batsman taking it in turns to visit the pitch, attempting to score as many runs as possible from the bowling of the other side. There are always two batsmen present on the pitch.
Tough Times Ahead for Indian Cricket
Barely a year after winning the ODI Cricket World Cup, Team India finds itself in a soup. Two humiliating series white-washes against England and Australia followed by a disappointing defeat at the hands of minnows Bangladesh in the Asia Cup are not exactly the results a World cup winning team would like to put on its resume. Even the harshest of Team India's critics could not have predicted such a downfall. Furthermore, the ways things seem to be going, one gets the impression that not much is being done to change the situation.
Do Not Miss The Brilliant Marketing Opportunity That The IPL Offers!
The Indian Premier League offers an unprecedented and unparalleled marketing opportunity to a plethora of brands and companies out there. They must learn to make the most of this opportunity, otherwise they will certainly be regretting their untimely and indecisive actions. Accordingly, in this article, we look at some of the reasons for which marketing during the IPL makes so much of sense, across a wide range of brands and industries.
Time Your Indian Premier League Content Well!
This article emphasizes on the fact that when it comes to developing content centered around the hugely popular Indian Premier League (IPL), timing is absolutely key! After all, the IPL takes place at fixed times of the year (months of April and May, every calendar year) and therefore, it is imperative that content is prepared well in time around this period, when that same content would witness maximum hits or traffic.
The IPL and Social Media Marketing
This article introduces readers to the exciting marketing opportunities that the IPL or the Indian Premier League offers, every season. In particular, given the recent spurt in social media, companies and brands need to realize that the IPL is an excellent platform on which they can build their social media marketing and take it to new heights.
T20 Cricket Truly Comes Alive With the IPL!
Twenty20 or T20 cricket has its origins in England. It was originally introduced in 2003 by the England and Wales Cricket Board as a means by which local counties could compete against one another. But soon the whole world got to see the merits of this shorter form of the game in many ways - the adrenalin rush, as well as the fact that games finished faster, with the results there for everyone to see in a much shorter time frame.
Bradman Vs Tendulkar Vs Richards
I had planned to issue this article after the retirement of Sachin Tendulkar. However, he is still going strong and showing no sign of tiring after 23 years of international cricket. The first point is to conclude whether such a comparison is justifiable because all three played cricket in different eras and had to face different conditions.

Cricket Betting - Looking at the Positives and the Negatives
With the advent of T20, cricket betting has been on the increase, and is now under attack from unscrupulous bookmakers and dodgy business men. Should we worry about the future of our beloved game?

Who Are the Top Ten Cricket Batsmen of All Time?
There have been many excellent cricket batsmen to play the game over time. There is much speculation about what makes a player the top batsmen, is it most runs, highest average, a combination of both? Today I would like to discuss who I feel the top batsmen of all time are mostly by average as this represents consistently but also a combination of other factors.

Test Cricket Will Stand The Test of Times
This article is to prove why TEST CRICKET will always be popular. The true Cricket enthusiasts don't have to fear that T20 may virtually erode Test cricket.

Twenty Twenty, A Newer Better Cricket?
T20, or Twenty Twenty, cricket has created a massive splash in the sporting world since its birth a handful of years ago. It started out being viewed as a little bit of a laugh but has quickly established into a ever expanding billion dollar enterprise with no hint of slowing down any time in the near future. T20 is simple enough for the casual audience and entry level spectators to get a understanding of the sport, and sure enough a number of those fans will find their way to other, lengthier, variations of the game.

England Suffers A Winter Of Discontent
The England cricket team flew out the UAE this winter on the back of becoming the top test cricket team in the world, however what lay in wait for them was a Pakistan team that were to burst their bubble in quite a spectacular fashion. Questions had always been asked about the ability of the England team on facing conditions within the sub-continent, and this trip was to prove no different. Virtually from the first moment the England team were in total disarray with the bats with none of the top order batsmen being able to cope with conditions....

Essential Components and Parts of a Cricket Kit
Cricket is one of the most popular and acclaimed games in the world. Though every game requires sheer talent and hard work, the right game accessories are also quite essential to play any game these days.

Obsession With Cricket
When the British Empire ruled India for almost 200 years, it imported many things to the sub-continent. Of these, the English language and the game of cricket have survived the test of time and been enriched by their Indian experience. Writers in English from the sub-continent, notably Salman Rushdie, Vikram Seth, Arundhati Roy and many others, have added a quirky local flavor to the language.

Sachin Is the God of Cricket - Even in This Era of T20 Cricket
Sachin Tendulkar is often called as the god of cricket. If we go through his career record, we can understand that this is not an exaggeration. During his 20 years of cricket career Sachin has broken many past records, set new records, and crossed many milestones. He has even won the ICC World Cup in 2011. He has proved his skill even in t20 cricket. He scored some brilliant innings in IPL t20 cricket tournaments too.
The Commonwealth Series - Feb 2012
After a thorough battering at the hands of the Aussies who inflicted a 4-0 defeat on the Indians, it was suspected that the failure in Tests occurred because the Indian players were used to ODI and T20 conditions. To play in the Tests one needs good technique. The advent of crash cricket tournaments must be partly blamed for the fall in Test standards. Indias' failure in the Tests is a collective failure of cricket. The failures in tests are shocking considering the fact that India was ranked ICC no 1 just a year back. Now that the ODIs commenced, India has performed better and has won all the matches, but for one. This proves that the Indian players were used to ODI conditions prior to embarking on Tests. Just as a note, MS.Dhonis' captain cool approach slowed down the run rate considerably during the time he was batting. The required run rate increased from 5.5 to 8 and even 9. In fact yesterday he defended the last ball of the 49th over. But much to his chagrin he could not score easily of the 50th over which was bowled by Lasith Malinga.

Pakistan Vs England Cricket - Test Series February
Cricket fans from the UK and other countries will be heading to the United Arab Emirates this month to see England and Pakistan compete in Test Matches and other events in Dubai's world-leading cricket grounds. Resurgent Ponting - Back to Brilliant Best
Ricky Ponting produced arguably his most fluent performance in nearly 2 years on the first day of the 4th test as he and Michael Clarke proceeded once again to knock the stuffing out of India. Ponting, who has been criticised over the past year or so has now racked up his 2nd century in 3 matches and at 137* looks set to go on further. In an almost Dravid style return to form the former captain now looks a key unit in the team again at his new found number 4 position.

The World of Cricket Gets Redefined
Cricket has always been a positively impacted game which refreshes you with the shots and runs you make. The fun element in playing this game is the dedication for scoring the maximum running between the wickets. But before thinking anything further let me ask you one thing that has you ever been satisfied with the performance you gave on field?

Cricket Self-Talk

Also known as internal dialogue, self-talk is simply the way you talk to yourself inside your head. You worry over a bad innings, congratulate yourself after a good result, even tell yourself how sexy you look in fresh, clean whites. People do it every day, but mostly it's negative.

Your Mind
By understanding how your mind functions, you will be able to utilise its power, to get the most from yourself or those you coach. It is often claimed we use less than ten percent of our mind, therefore its vast, latent power is still unknown to medical research. Your mind has two parts, the conscious and the subconscious, otherwise known as the unconscious.

What's Wrong With the Indian Cricket Team?
Relax guys. Why all this public outcry all over again? Tell me one instance where any cricket team from India did well in conditions that are not Indian. I don't think you will be able to recollect many.

India Down Under: Time for Test Captain Dhoni to Go?
Dhoni's out-of-the-box thinking has done the team good and while they may look like shrewd cricketing decisions, his choices, in retrospect, come across as lucky breaks. And the thing with luck is that it usually tends to run out. With six straight overseas Test defeats everything about Dhoni seems wrong. The only question bigger than Dhoni's immediate future as the Test captain is that if not Dhoni then who?

Doff Your Hat to the Master of 'Doosra' Muttiah Muralitharan
Staggering is the only word that comes to mind when one thinks of Muttiah Muralitharan. Arguably the greatest spinner in the history of cricket, Muralitharan has amassed 792 wickets in 132 Tests and it's impossible to even imagine that that someone will ever join ranks with the Sri Lankan who is playing his last Test as you read this.

It's Just Not Cricket: Ego, Out There and Batting!
Australian cricket captain Michael Clarke raced into the record books this week with a phenomenal 319 runs, but rather than going on to supersede Brian Lara's world record 400 runs in an innings, declared for the good of the team and the game. Critics had argued that Clarke was driven by ego, but this performance shines a kinder light on his motives.

The Relative Failure of Sachin Tendulkar
India has lost all the four test matches in England by huge margins. Going further India has been walloped in the first test in Australia and are on a leather hunt in the second test. This despite the presence of Sachin Tendulkar the much touted Indian batting star.

Let's Know About The Cricket Balls

One Man Show
Warner chose that over to launch into the most monstrous six over long-on, and heaved another in Warne's second. He would bowl only two overs for 19 runs, no doubt restricted by the burns a cooking accident had inflicted on his bowling hand.

Australia Tour 2011-12: Umesh Yadav Can Be India's Trump Card
India have embarked on their tour of Australia where they are scheduled to play four tests, apart from T20 and ODI matches; the first test begins on boxer's day in Brisbane. What differentiates this Indian side from previous squads touring down under is the surfeit of young bowlers. The Indian selectors used the West Indies tour of India, and the ODI series at home against England that preceded it, to experiment with the bowling. Seniors like Sreesanth and Harbhajan were given a rest even as the rare, bold experimentation paid off. Umesh Yadav, Varun Aaron and Vinay Kumar with the new ball joined Ashwin and Ojha with the old to underscore their credentials at the highest level.

Australia Tour 2011-12: 4 Reasons Why India Will Win The Test Series
India begin the first test in Australia on December 26, 2011 and will be favourites to win their first ever test series down under. Here are four reasons why I think India will win the series comfortably. There's simply no comparison between the two sides when it comes to batting. With Sehwag and Gambhir fully recovered from the injury tat had haunted them in England, India are back to full strength in batting. With Kohli coming good against the West Indies, there is no perceptible weak spot.

The third test between India and West Indies, in Mumbai during 22-26 November, 2011 was nearly abandoned for a listless draw. It ended in a draw alright. But with a nail-biting and edge-of-the-seat finish that nobody could even dream of.

England Outplayed India in 2000th Test at Lords
In the 2000th Test, and the 100th between the India and England, the home side's desire to win proved to be stronger than the visitors' resolve to stay in the battle. India on paper is much stronger side while in the ground they are playing like minnows. Set what would have been a world record total of 458 runs to win and with one wicket down overnight, the tourist Indian's main task was to bat throughout the fifth and crucial final day to force the draw as they have no chance by any corner to beat England here in Lords.

England Tour 2011: Summary Of Fourth Test Match, India Vs England
The Oval has been a happy hunting ground for India, and this was the venue of India's first test victory in England in 1971. The pitch has aided spin in the past and India would have gone into the match hoping for a better result than in the first three games that England won on wickets aiding their fast bowlers.

India On The Brink At Edgbaston
Day three of the third N Power test series began with Alistair Cook and Eoin Morgan at the crease for England. Both were looking imperious the previous evening and were looking to bat England into an unassailable position. India had toiled in the previous day and were starting to look a little weary, several of their players were leaving the field at various intervals in what seemed like a rotation policy. The most notable being Sehwag, 10 mins before the close of play. It's fair to say, this did not go un-noticed by the media and he came in for much criticism in the morning sports paper columns.

Indian Cricketers And the Truth Behind Their Poor Show on England Tour
Two back-to-back defeats and the Indian dominance of Test cricket is already being questioned. The fact that the downfall of short lived Indian supremacy of Test cricket is being discussed more than the resurgence of the English Test side even by the English is testimony of just how big this fall is. While form and commitment along with an over burdened schedule are being cited as the biggest reasons for our pathetic display in England, is there more to what meets the eye?

England Dominate In Birmingham
The third test began at Edgbaston today between England and India, in the shadow of trying times as the UK attempts to come to terms with the wide spreading riots of recent days. Andrew Strauss, for the first time in the series, won the toss and put the Indians into bat first on what looked like a pitch that would offer an advantage to the bowlers. The England team had one change. Bopara replaced the injured Trott, he came in at No.5 and Ian Bell moved up to No3. The Indian team were bolstered by the return of Sehwag and also Mishra and Ghambir, replacing Harbhajan and Yuvraj respectively. Both of whom have flown back to India with injuries.
Broad and Dravid Shine at Trentbridge (Second Test Day 2 Review)
Day 2 of the second Test match between India and England started with much better batting conditions than the previous day. The sun was shining and the green tinge the wicket had on day one seemed to have faded. The experienced pair of Dravid and Laxman came to the crease with India on a score of 24-1, chasing the England first innings total of 221. The early exchanges were very much dominated by the Indian partnership, taking advantage of some loose bowling from both Anderson and Broad. As the morning progressed, the score line seemed to be moving along effortlessly until Laxman fell, just before lunch, to the bowling of Bresnan not long after making his fifty.

Sreesanth Leads Indian Fightback (Second Test - Day 1 Review)
The second test match of the four match series started at Trentbridge this morning, both India and England had injury problems leading up to the match. For India, their bowling Talisman, Zaheer Kahn was to miss out with a leg injury, as was the opening batsman Gambhir with a bruised elbow. For England, Chris Tremlett could not recover in time from a hamstring strain. The replacements for the Indians were Sreesanth and Singh, and for England the bowler called up to replace Tremlett was Tim Bresnan.

England Dominate The Early Proceedings At Lords (First Innings Review)
The first test of the series between the two top Cricket teams in the world was as thrilling as most fans had anticipated. On an overcast day at Lords, the Indian captain Dhoni won the toss and without any hesitation put England into bat first. The England team were unchanged from the side that beat Sri Lanka earlier in the summer, whilst the Indians had one noticeable absence at the top order in Sehwag.

A few surprises and some notable omissions notwithstanding fans from across the globe have voted for cricket's greatest Test team. The list consists of four players each from two teams (Australia and India) that have dominated Test cricket for the last two decades, two from a team (West Indies) that redefined the pace bowling and one from a team (Pakistan) that is more volatile than an unstable lab chemical!

Finally A New Dawn For The West Indies?
Ignored by the controversy surrounding India's decision to call off a Test Match needing 86 runs off 90 balls was the continued improvement of their counterparts. Since a 2-1 series loss against Australia in 1995, the West Indies have fallen spectacularly from their position at the top of the cricketing world. Players such as Clive Lloyd, Malcolm Marshall and Sir Viv Richards (to name a few) retired during a 5 year period which devastated a younger side in the long term.

England Secure Series Win

Expert Author Paul J StevensonOld Trafford was the setting for the fifth and final one day game between England and Sri Lanka. With the scores poised beautifully at 2-2, the day was set up to bring and exciting climax to the Sri-Lankan tour of England. England make the surprise decision to leave out Stuart Broad from the team and brought in Samit Patel of Nottinghamshire to replace him. The Sri Lankans also made one change, with Prasad replacing Lakmal in the seam bowling department.
Once again Alistair Cook won the toss for England and decided to bat first on an Old Trafford wicket that was more akin to Colombo than Manchester, this would be a true test for England's fledgling captain in the most crucial game of the series. Cook continued his good form with the bat, and along with Kieswetter, built an opening stand of 85 from just under 13 overs. Cook was then beaten by the spin delivery from Randiv, and presented Sangakkara with a stumping opportunity he was not going to pass up.
The taking of Cook's wicket sparked a mini collapse from England with both Kieswetter and Pietersen falling quickly to leave England at 95-3. It was left to the ever reliable Jonathan Trott to rebuild the innings, and along with the big hitting Morgan, the pair took the game by the scruff of the neck as England motored along to 213 with still more than 14 overs left in the game. Morgan was to fall soon after though, being deceived in the flight by a delivery from the Sri Lankan captain, and Sangakkara holding the ball firmly in his wicket keeping gloves. From this point on, the England innings stumbled along with wickets falling in rapid succession. The England total after 50 overs ended at 269, a little under par according to many at the ground. The pick of the Sri Lankan bowlers was Randiv, who finished with the excellent figures of 5-42.
The key to the Sri Lankan reply would be their experienced top order of Dilshan, Jayawardene and Sangakkara all firing. Unfortunately for them, Anderson and Bresnan had other ideas and some great bowling from the opening pair left the Sri Lankans struggling with the score of 29-3. It was left to Kumar Sangakkara to steady the ship, and along with Chandimal, they managed to do so keeping the Sri-Lankans well in the hunt.
The partnership was eventually broken by Swann in the 26th over, and soon afterwards Bresnan also picked up the key wicket of the Sri-Lankan wicket keeper Sangakkara. At this stage, England were firm favourites to go on and seal the series win. However, Matthews and Mendis had other thoughts on their mind and with a superb partnership of 132 brought the Sri-Lankans within touching distance of victory. But then Mendis holed out to Pietersen from the bowling of Patel for 48.
A thrilling climax was still on the cards as Matthews was well set at the crease and seeing the ball like a football with the help of his cricket equipment. The problem was, his partners were running out as the pressure built up, and both Randiv and Kulasekara fell cheaply. When Matthews was eventually bamboozled by a wonderful slower delivery by Dernbach the game was a good as over with Sri Lanka needing 17 runs from 11 deliveries. Malinga followed with the very next ball to seal a dramatic England victory, and a 3-2 first series win to remember for England's captain, Alistair Cook.
