IPL - For Damage Control, Portray Strict Willpower to Punish or Else

Stringent punitive action is needed immediately. Better monitoring should be done, and more importantly, management should accept the responsibility of hurting the faith of millions and shattering the image of India all over the world. This is the bottom-line & what most of all truly desire.
Next step is to formulate a future action plan to prevent the recurrence of such a humiliating black spot.
IPL organizers must fill the loopholes immediately, re-establish credibility & infuse transparency at once. Everybody, veteran or newcomer must be made to realize that they are being watched. Touts, fixers, brokers, middlemen, and greedy officials providing access to the players must be placed under the scanner. Anti-fixing squad and even the managers/coaches/supporting staff/officials role & contribution must be defined clearly. BCCI must, in order to protect its image, invariably announce concrete remedial steps, strict guidelines for controlling the shady movements of the players. There should be a coordination to interact with the police and for mobilizing the feeling for fear among all the parties with help of the media. Otherwise, it has already become a widespread notion circulating among the sports fans that for the magnitude of money involved, impossible is nothing. Otherwise this is going to prove a gross damage for the image of cricket.
It is pertinent to add, that in the recent past people had started withdrawing from following cricket. The prime reason for this was very simple. Too much of cricket, throughout the year was badly affecting the players' performance. Never-ending tiring tours led to the disassociation becoming so intense, that except for the high profile world cups (ODI's & 20-20) people had rapidly lost interest.
Also, there is another legitimate feeling amongst all concerned, that due to the incumbent money & the hype of cricket, all the other sports like hockey, athletics, wrestling, boxing, swimming, etc. are not getting their due recognition.
Here, nobody is ruling out the milestone achievement of IPL in restoring the lost interest of masses in cricket, owing to its wonderful format & scale. However, one must not forget that unless you have got everything clean and have the full support of common public, you cannot survive. Example of the earlier ICL, (Supported by stalwart Kapil Dev) is there.
So the organizers must bear this clearly in their mind that if you serve a pure and delicious dish, free from adulteration & neatly packed in transparent cutlery, people are ready to spend their hard-earned money & precious time. If not, there are big question marks!
Hope you have got the message loud & clear.
