What's Wrong With the Indian Cricket Team?

Relax guys. Why all this public outcry all over again? Tell me one instance where any cricket team from India did well in conditions that are not Indian. I don't think you will be able to recollect many. Then why should all this emotional bashing of this particular cricket team start all over again? Guys, you should all learn to accept the fact that this is an Indian Cricket team after all - which means they can play only in India. It is that simple. An extra yard of pace, a ball that swings a little, a bounce which is just an inch above the comfortable knee height, are just the ingredients, enough to make even the greatest cricketing gods of India, look so much out of comfort. This is what has happened during their 4-0 wash out England tour last year and the same is repeating during this years Australian tour down under. The players simply don't possess the necessary skills and to expect them to develop them overnight is simply superfluous. This is all the more so in these days of easy money that is being made by them made through the 'Indian Premium League' -- IPL.
It is but natural for the Indian media to bash up the players and the administrators following the recent drubbing of the Indian team in the Australia tour down under. What is unfortunate is the Indian public memory in general and the administrators intent to improve in particular is so short lived, the overseas humiliation is easily forgotten, the moment the inevitable super victory that is achieved in the very first match that is played, back in India. The mouth watering statistics are again savored and the demolishing of the hapless medium pacers on lifeless Indian tracks gets applauded. The very same players who are getting bashed by the media and the public, following the exposure of their actual skills in overseas conditions, are sent again back to their altars of worship. The effort that is required to hone the real capabilities of these players, which is being spoken all around now, gets lost in the din of success, that is inevitably achieved on the placid Indian pitches.
Lesson to be learnt - never believe in the powers of the hyped up Indian cricketing Gods and expect them to perform when playing overseas. Have faith in their super human capabilities only when they are playing in Indian sub continent wickets and conditions. With the players, administrators and selectors who are happy making money, one cannot expect to have a system in place which will hone the skills necessary to play in overseas conditions. After all, with the emergence of IPL, every one is getting their due. The paying public is getting the entertainment they deserve and the players the easy money they don't deserve. So why bother about overseas debacles - just take it easy. Enjoy the cricket of the Indian cricket players only when they play in India - they are sure to perform all the miracles that cricketing gods are expected of and drive the cricket crazy Indian public mad again and again.
